Over the last 20 years, some TV commercials have carved a niche for themselves in our heart and mind. Their melodious tunes became a long standing track in our memories, their funny scenes brought laughter to our mind over a decade after we saw them last. Some of them are:
We No Go Gree (Bagco): I am 100% sure that you have heard Nigerians chant the words: “we no go gree oooo we no go gree.” That phrase was founded in this advert. This advert date back to the early days of television in Africa. We fell in love with the chant and it has established itself as a national protest song in the heart of almost every Nigerian.
Get The Taste (Gulder): This advert was founded shortly after Gulder started the ultimate search series. It depicted a guest bringing a gift to a roman king. To determine if the drimk was okay, the taster was summoned. He tasted the Gulder and the rest as they say is history.
My Friend Udeme (Guinness): This commercial established itself in our minds by constantly poping up in our favorite commercials. It took a while for us to understand where it was trying to advertise but eventually we fell in love with it.
Oga Solo (Panadol Extra): We all hated drugs but we grew very fond of this advert. The song was distinct and easy to understand. “I wan tell una story about one man, him name na Solo, the man na oga fo this workshop eehhh.”
I Swear I no go do am again: This was one of the most hilarious advert of the late 90’s. The title alone will fully remind you of the entire storyline. Doff your hat for our good old Baba blue.
