Jose Mourinho on Saturday revealed that he asked Paul Pogba to be more consistent following his incredible performance in the Manchester derby, scoring twice in a 3-2 comeback that denied City the chance to confirm the title in front of their rivals.
The 55-year-old manager has slammed the club’s record signing and his teammates for their “slow” performance in their Sunday defeat that handed Manchester City the Premier League title.
“We were masters in complication, everything was complicated,” he told Sky Sports. “We didn’t want or played simple, everything was slow, one more flick, trick, turn.”
City were crowned champions on as United crashed to a shock 0-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion, with Pogba being substituted off after just 57 minutes.
“In the first half I felt that I had to bring one player with more dynamic, more of a runner, more of a player that touch the ball in search of spaces,” Mourinho explains.
“I had to make a decision of one midfield player out, to play Jesse Lingard, and then after that I want to give more width, and Paul had a yellow card.
Mourinho went on the point out that before the substitution, the French midfeidler had a situation not for a second yellow card, “but you never know in football the way the referees react to that.”
“Paul’s game was complicated, like many others. Always one more touch, always one more turn,” he adds.
