3rd Ebola Case Hits Goma, Congo, Rwanda Shuts Shared Border

The Rivers State Commissioner of Health (Dr Tam Jaja) has confirmed 3 cases of the suspected monkeypox virus in Rivers State.
He disclosed that the disease spreaded in the state due to the care-free attitude of the first responders to the victims. He said “we have three suspected cases already.One is from the Rumuorlumeni area. Doctors dismissed it with the thought that it was not a serious matter.
Another one is a thirteen-year-old boy at Eneka. When his parents detected his ailment, they took the boy to a native doctor with the thought that they can handle it the native way”.
He assured citizens of the state that all isolation centres in the state are now on fully prepared to control the situation. He said “The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital and all our Primary Health Centres have been remobilized to handle the situation”. News of the Rivers State outbreak is coming few hours after the Federal Minister of Health claimed that the monkeypox situation is under control. Monkey virus currently has no cure.
