Bitter Divorce! Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Set For Court Battle Over Six Kids

Hollywood bigwigs Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are set for a court battle over the custody of their six children, it has been reported. The former couple will head to court next month, with the custody trial expected to take between two and three weeks.According to media reports, Angelina and Brad have filed legal documents asking a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge to give them until June 2019 to finalise their bitter divorce. If their request is approved, Judge Ouderkirk will hear and determine all pretrial issues, requests and motions, as well as the trial itself. However, the ex-couple will face one another in court from December 4 this year to try to make custody arrangements for their six children; Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and ten-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. It has been reported that Angelina wants sole physical custody, whereas Brad is fighting for joint custody at a 50/50 split – with the actor said to be accusing his ex-wife of trying to deny him the right to parent their children. The stars have been embroiled in a bitter custody battle in recent months, with Angelina accusing Brad of not paying any “meaningful” child support since she filed for divorce. Brad hit back, claiming that he “loaned” her $8million (£6.1m) to help her purchase her current home, as well as paying over $1.3million (£995,000) “in bills for the benefit of [Jolie] and the minor children.” His lawyer, Lance Spiegel, added that Brad “adamantly disputes the contention that he has not paid child support”. Earlier this year, a judge ordered Angelina to give Brad more time with the children – threatening that he may be granted primary custody if she refuses. He told the actress: “If the minor children remain closed down to their father and depending on the circumstances surrounding this condition, it may result in a reduction of the time they spend with [Jolie] and may result in the Court ordering primary physical custody to [Pitt].” Alongside custody arrangements, the pair have enlisted the help of a private judge to help with the property settlement – as neither star had a prenup before their 2014 marriage. It is expected that Angelina and Brad may appear in court via telephone link, however, the trial will be sealed off to the public because of the involvement of minors. Brad and Angelina first started dating in 2005 and split in September 2016 after just two years of marriage.Photo Credit: Getty
