With Amputee Model And Breast Cancer Survivor On Runway, Chromat Is The Brand Empowering Women At NYFW

The American fashion label proved its dedication to empowering women of all shapes and sizes with the debut of model Mama Cax, who took to the runway at New York Fashion Week wearing a prosthetic leg.Chromat, which started up in 2010 and took inspiration from founder Becca McCharen-Tran’s background in architecture, is renowned for its swim and athletic wear. The 28-year-old, from New York, was diagnosed with bone and lung cancer at 14 and lost her right leg soon after with an amputation at the hip.She said: “I probably waited a good three years before going to a swimming pool or even the beach, and that was mostly due to the fact that I was never comfortable in my body.”Also on the runway was breast-cancer survivor Ericka Hart, who unzipped her plunging swimsuit to show off her scars.Photo Credit: Getty
